Our History

cunningham-reis history

Throughout The Years

Specializing in concrete slab, I-beam span bridges, bridge overlays,
bridge repairs, and pile driving.

Cunningham-Reis was founded in 1914 by Chester W. “Chet” Cunningham and Paul Reis and was initially based out of Des Moines, IA. We joined AGC of Iowa nearly 100 years ago, in 1923, as a founding member. We remain the only original member still in business in the State of Iowa today. In 1968, the company was bought out by Earl Anderson and later by his sons, Roger and David. In the mid-1980s, Cunningham-Reis relocated to the small town of Van Meter, Iowa.

While building bridges is the primary business, we have changed and grown to meet the needs of the industry and perform extensive repair work and overlays. In 2018, we became a division of the Manatt’s Family of Businesses. With this relationship, we look forward to continued growth and longevity building bridges across Iowa.
